Bahamut by cwgabriel Bahamut by cwgabriel
"About a quarter of the time, Bahamut wanders Oerth in the shape of a human or some other guise. He is said to have been encountered as a frail old hermit, with the seven great golden wyrms that accompany him disguised as seven canaries singing sweetly nearby."

An awesome exploration of D&D lore through art. I love how the canaries seem to glow in midst the night, even brighter than the stars.

I can't help but think of how Bahamut here looks like Gen from Streetfighter. Not that I think it's a bad thing, mind you.

I like how serene he looks with his "birds" near him.

I like how the air seem to rip around parts of the tree. Seems to convey the great but calm power of the figures. Fleshes out my D&D universe imagery, too. (score)
PS: started playing gamma world w/ my friends after hearing about how weird it is via Penny Arcade. TONS OF FUN.

I believe this is the only picture of its kind in DeviantArt, and one of the very few non-Final Fantasy depictions of the Platinum Dragon(not that there's anything wrong with the FF depictions :P ). Hail Bahamut!

I want to favorite this, but I've been playing DnD with some people and we're not supposed to know who the old man is yet, and if I *do* favorite, I will spoil it for everyone else and not just myself haha.

But really wonderful work. I'll come back and add this after the secrets out in our game :)

Really nice piece.
I love the mood in this. Somewhere between sadness and peace. If soothing is a right word...I hope it is :)
I would definitely hang this on my wall if it would be painted with acrylic.
